Norfolk, Va. - Brooklyn Stepp says a man pointed a gun at her head and threatened to kill her over a parking spot at Military Circle Mall.

She says it happened after the man hit their car.

Brooklyn says he was trying to steal a parking spot her husband was backing into.

“I walked up to him and said, ‘Excuse me.’ And as soon as I did, I just saw him reach down by his side by where you would put your arm and this big gun he just pulled it out, locked it and just pointed it up,” says Stepp. “I was scared. That just shows you how people in this whole area, they`ll fight over anything anymore.”

Brooklyn feels police didn't do enough to catch him.

She says the gunman sped off and she followed him to the Crownpoint Townhomes

“He turned his lights off, got out of his car and started running towards us and we told 911 he`s on foot and running towards my car,” says Stepp.

She says at this point, police were in the neighborhood but didn't see the man with the gun.

Police also didn't see him run into a house. Brooklyn says police did knock on the door but that was it.

“The police knock on the door and they wait for a minute or less, and then come back to our car and the first thing they say is, ‘Did you get shot? No. Did your husband get shot? No. Is anybody hurt? So what are we doing here? So the whole point of a gun being pulled is dismissed because no one is hurt,” says Stepp.

Norfolk police couldn't confirm what the responding officer did or didn't say that night.

They say because police didn't see anything themselves, they couldn't do much more than knock on the door.

“That`s what I`m most upset about. You can call the cops for your safety and they no longer care,” says Stepp.

Norfolk police say a detective is investigating the case.
