Newport News, Va. - A 19-year-old Newport News woman faces multiple charges after firing a pistol and starting a fire during a domestic dispute with her boyfriend.

Attiyah Fenwick was arrested after police and fire personnel were called to the apartment in the 100 block of Heritage Way that she shared with her boyfriend after calls about a disturbance and a fire.

Fenwick became upset with her boyfriend and intentionally started destroying property in the apartment. She also fired a pistol several times inside of the apartment and lit a plastic bin and other items on fire in the dining room, according to police.Attiyah Fenwick Brandishing, Unlawfully discharge a firearm X2, Arson, Felony destruction of property, reckless handling of a firearm

The fire caused damage to the sheetrock of the apartment, melted the ceiling fan, and cause smoke damage throughout the apartment. No one in the surrounding apartment units were injured.

Court documents show it was her boyfriend's gun Fenwick used to threaten to kill him. A criminal complaint shows she pointed the gun at her boyfriend and told police she had every intent to kill him, but didn't because he had two kids. Police couldn't tell NewsChannel 3 if the kids were in the home when it happened or not.

Fenwick has been charged with brandishing, two counts of unlawfully discharging a firearm, arson, felony destruction of property and reckless handling of a firearm.

Fenwick is being held without bond. Her next court date is scheduled for January 26th.
