Cash, drugs, handgun seized in Isle of Wight Co. investigation

Isle of Wight Co., Va. – Two people are now facing various drug-related charges in Isle of Wight County, according to the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office.

This comes as a result of a joint investigation by the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office, Meherrin Drug Task Force, Norfolk Police Department, Virginia State Police, and Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control.

DEA arrests were made on 29-year-old Lenore Denise Artis and 28-year-old Corey Lavelle Spratley, both of the 8700 block of Smithfield Apartments Lane in Smithfield.

Lenore Denise Artis was charged with one count of Conspiracy Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine; and two counts of Abuse and Neglect of Children.

Child Protective Services will also be investigating the Child Abuse and Neglect Charge, officials say.

Corey Lavelle Spratley was charged with one count of Conspiracy Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine; and five counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, third or Subsequent Offense.

Additional charges are pending on both individuals.

This case started in June 2014 and has resulted in the seizure of $2,582 in cash, jewelry, a 2003 Isuzu Ascender SUV with a custom hidden trap installed, a Sig 40 caliber handgun and approximately $16,330 in street value of Crack and Cocaine, according to the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office.
