Yorktown, Va. - A woman was arrested Saturday after dragging her elderly mother across the floor, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.
Cherolyn Shortt is charged with abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult.
According to a family member, Shortt had been staying with the 76-year-old woman, who has a hard time getting around.
According to a criminal complaint filed in court, a family member says she walked into the elderly woman's house last week and heard Shortt yelling at the woman.
The family member then told deputies when she walked into her bedroom, she saw blood on a rug and Shortt standing over the 76-year-old.
The criminal complaint goes on to say that the elderly woman told deputies her daughter had ordered her to get into bed that night. When she wouldn't, she says her daughter picked her up and dropped her on the bedroom floor, then pulled her across the floor causing the skin to tear on her arms.
A family member says Shortt told them the elderly woman had fallen and she was trying to help her up.
An emergency protective order was taken out against Shortt.
NewsChannel 3 tried reaching Shortt by phone, but she hasn't called us back.
A family member says others will now be caring for the mom.
