A simple reply to a request to postpone final exams…
An Oberlin College student’s lengthy email to her professor was answered with a “no”.
Protests have been held on the campus since the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Both black men were unarmed when they died at the hands of police.
According to several online sources including the Conservative Tribune, the self-described ‘white, middle-class’ student spoke about the incredible trauma she felt.
In her email, the Ohio student said, quote: “Black students and other students of color have to focus on their survival and are expected to put energy into finals.”
She added in part that white students may have an advantage because they will be more likely to focus most of their time on preparing for final exams.
Despite her efforts, her push was shot down, according to the report.
