An armored van traveling in Hong Kong spilled nearly $2 million (US Dollars)/$15 million (Hong Kong Dollars) in cash onto one of city’s busiest roads on Wednesday.
The incident brought traffic to a standstill as people jumped from their cars to scoop up the money, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
Videos and pictures shared by local news outlets showed people crouching in the street and picking up some of the 500 Hong Kong dollar notes, which are worth about $65 apiece.
The money was spilled when three containers it was being transported in slid out of a van through an unsecured door, police said.
About 30 containers of cash were being transported from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon.
Authorities are asking anyone who picked up the cash to return it to police or they could be prosecuted for theft.
