Southern Shores, NC - Two suspects have been apprehended in Southern Shores in connection to the thefts of Christmas cards and Christmas packages from mailboxes in town, according to the Southern Shores Police Department.

Police say they began responding to the numerous reported larcenies on December 16th when several calls started coming in about thefts from residents living on South, North and East Dogwood Trail, Holly Trail and many other roads.

In each case, the suspects went opened cards and packages and took all the cash, personal checks and gift cards they could get their hands on. What they couldn't use, they burned, police say.

After a week of surveillance throughout the town, two suspects -- a male and a female -- were apprehended.

Former arrests have not been made and charges have not yet been filed, however.

Police say they're investigating more larcenies that occurred throughout most of December.

Anyone who many have been a victim is asked to call the Southern Shores Police Department at 252-261-3331 Ext. 234.
