Portsmouth police investigate attempted robbery at pharmacy

Portsmouth, Va. – Portsmouth Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery that took place at the Rite-Aid Pharmacy located in the 900 block of Hodges Ferry Road. Dispatchers received the call around 6:00 p.m. this evening.

Investigators report that a male suspect entered the business and approached the register. Once an employee approached, the suspect implied that he had a firearm and demanded money.

The employee told the suspect that they could not give him any money. The suspect left the Rite-Aid pharmacy, without any money or items, and fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as wearing a black zip-up hoodie, a blue bandana over the lower portion of his face and sunglasses over his eyes.

No one was injured during this incident. This case is currently under investigation.
