Norfolk, Va. - Old Dominion University officials are warning the community to be on alert after a "possible threat" at a campus building earlier this week.

In the email sent to students just after 7 p.m. Friday, ODU officials say they received a belated report of a sexual assault that happened at the Monarch Inn on Tuesday.  The dorm hall is also referred to as The ODU Inn on the school's website.

ODU police say have no further information because the victim does not want a criminal investigation.

The email from the school urges students to be aware of their surroundings, but some say that doesn't put them at ease

"It's a little vague, which is even more scary," said one student.

School officials have not said if the victim knew the attacker.  They also do not have a description of a suspect.
