Virginia Beach, Va. – Virginia Beach Blvd. has reopened following a water main break Tuesday morning at Virginia Beach Blvd. and Byrd Lane.
The eastbound lanes of Virginia Beach Blvd. were temporarily closed at Parker Lane.
Crews began repairs on the water main around 1:00am and repairs were made around 7am.
Officials say weather, the age of pipe, and the pipe material were to blame. There is no way to measure the amount of water lost, they say.
Two additional water main breaks have also been reported this morning in residential neighborhoods.
A water main break has been reported in the Green Run neighborhood at 3682 Ship Chandlers Wharf. Another has been reported in the Brigadoon neighborhood near 1608 Ridge Road.
Officials believe the cause of these two additional breaks may be the combination of weather, the age of the pipe, and the pipe material.
