Two people without a home after house catches fire in Hampton

Hampton, Va. – Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue has responded to a report of a two story house fire in the 10 block of Marigold Lane.

The Fire Division was notified at approximately 1:54 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13.

When fire crews arrived, they reported smoke and flames coming from the home’s roof and all occupants were out of the structure.

The fire was contained and extinguished within 15 minutes, officials say. The house sustained moderate fire damage to the attic and water damage throughout the home.

The residents were home at the time of the fire and were alerted by a smoke alarm sounding.

The fire has displaced two residents. Hampton Fire Marshal’s Office has investigated to determine the origin and cause of the fire which is accidental due to mechanical failure.
