Aurora, Colo. — Denver Broncos player Ben Garland spent just one day nursing his team's playoff loss before heading back to his other job in the military.

Captain Garland is a Public Affairs Officer with the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard.

The former Air Force cadet is finished with his official service commitment with the United States Air Force. He now works with the Air National Guard because he loves it.

Garland says he had a choice to become a pilot as a cadet, but the 6-foot 5-inch 308-pound offensive lineman gave it up because he would have had to lose the weight that would give him a shot to play in the NFL.

He is currently not under contract with the Broncos but hopes to stay in Denver.
