Richmond, Va. - Thousands from across the Commonwealth showed up in Richmond today to support both sides of the gun debate.
Lev Huntington, who is with the Virginia Citizens Defense League, drove up for the annual lobby day with his dog Suzy.
“Suzy has gone to Washington DC to meet with our legislators with me, she`s gone to Richmond. This is her second year in Richmond,” says Huntington.
One man came with his AR 15 to show support.
Gun owners are seeking several bills including the right to carry guns at school after hours, in airports, as well as lifetime gun permits.
On the other side were those wanting gun limits.
For those supporting gun control, they want a one gun a month purchase limit, background checks at gun shows, and bans for those convicted of sexual assault.
“A little over five years ago, my verbally abusive husband came into the bedroom and shot me several times."
One woman came to support restrictions for certain gun owners.
"I have a problem with people having guns who have demonstrated they are violent."
While all proposals will be up for debate, both sides are expected to face an uphill battle.
