Virginia Beach, Va. - Princess Anne High School faculty members Robert Stokes, Ronald Newell and Euclides Moran were awarded the Virginia Beach Lifesavers Award Friday morning.
The three men helped save a special needs student who was choking during a lunch back on October 29th. They say they each took turns trying to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on the child until school nurses arrived and were finally able to dislodge the object in the student's throat.
"She was turning blue. It was a scary situation," Moran said.
Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms came to the school to present the awards to the men. They each said they were honored by the recognition but say the true reward is being able to continue see that student at school.
