This is the ultimate drop test!
Mobile accessory maker Urban Armor Gear tested out their iPhone 6 case by sending it 101,000 feet into the stratosphere and dropping it.
In the video, which was recorded in November, the team rigged up the case with two GoPro cameras, a GPS transmitter and a backup phone with tracking installed.
According to the video’s description, the phone was wrapped in their composite iPhone 6 case with no screen protector. The team says the iPhone reached a height of over 101,000 feet and encountered temperatures as cold as -79 degrees F and winds as strong as 70 MPH. During the descent the iPhone 6 and flight rig withstood a 150 RPM rotation as the parachute deployed and the rig fought to stabilize.
The rig broke when it finally landed, but the iPhone remained unharmed and worked perfectly!
Upon landing the flight rig broke apart, however the iPhone remained unscathed and in perfect working order.
