A woman reportedly decided she wanted nothing to do with her newborn who has Down syndrome, so the father stepped up and took full responsibility for the bundle of joy he calls “perfect.”
“They took me in to see him and I looked at this guy and I said, ‘he’s beautiful — he’s perfect and I’m absolutely keeping him,’” says his father Samuel Forrest.
Forrest is from New Zealand and says his wife refused to even look at their son or touch him. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the father and his new son, Leo.
According to KTLA, The wife has now filed for divorce. He says his wife, who is Armenian, was afraid “of getting attached in a society where defects are not accepted, often bringing shame on the family involved.”
Forrest has now gone back to New Zealand to raise the baby on his own.
His GoFundMepage has raised more than $189, 000, which is more than three times the goal.
