York County, Va. - The York County Sheriff's Office has determined that an email threat received Wednesday morning was not credible. The lockdown at Grafton High School has been lifted and Grafton Middle School students are being picked up from York High School and returned to their school to resume the school day.

The following message was posted to the school division Facebook page shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday:

"This is an important message from the York County School Division. The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office has been investigating a reported threat to the Grafton School Complex this morning. As directed by the Sheriff's Office, Grafton High School students already in the building have been placed in a modified lockdown while the Sheriff's Office investigates the matter.

As a further precaution, Grafton Middle School students were diverted to York High School. Those students will remain at York High School until all elementary bus routes have delivered students to their schools. Please be advised that buses may be running behind schedule for Dare Elementary, Coventry Elementary, and Grafton Bethel Elementary schools."
