Ankey, Iowa – One teacher is out of school and it’s not even summer vacation time yet.
Officials say they arrested Jennifer Rich, a kindergarten teacher in Iowa, for allegedly having alcohol in her classroom.
According to CBS.com, a parent was in Rich’s classroom and noticed a can of beer during a Valentine’s Day party. Police say they found two empty cans of beer and four full cans.
The 40-year-old teacher has been charged with public intoxication and child endangerment.
She was immediately put on administrative leave and the school also conducted their own investigation. They gave her the option to resign and she did so on Monday night.
Now a long-term sub has taken over in the classroom, and the school is monitoring the children to make sure they’re adjusting to the change.
