Update: Hampton Blvd. has reopened.

Norfolk, Va. – An over height tractor-trailer caused delays on Hampton Blvd. after striking signal wires early Sunday afternoon.

According to the City of Norfolk, shortly before 2:50 p.m., a tractor-trailer was traveling Southbound on Hampton Blvd when it struck the signal wires at the intersection of Jamestown Crescent.

The wires linked to the traffic signals were pulled down onto two cars traveling northbound. A woman was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Both North and Southbound lanes of Hampton Blvd. at Jamestown Crescent are closed. Dominion Virginia Power and City of Norfolk are on scene, and estimate a full repair time of three to four hours.

The driver of the tractor-trailer has been cited for exceeding the height limit.

If you’re traveling south on Hampton Blvd., you will be detoured onto Manchester Avenue. If you’re traveling north on Hampton Blvd. you will be detoured onto Magnolia Avenue.
