Hampton University Musical Arts Society welcomes Grammy-nominated artist “Imani Winds”

Hampton, Va. – Grammy-nominated chamber music group Imani Winds will perform at Hampton University’s Ogden Hall, Friday February 28th, 2015 at 8 p.m.

This New York based group was founded in 1997 focuses on classical, jazz Latin, and chamber music. Imani Winds first album “The Classical Underground” was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2006. They have toured throughout the United States and internationally with notable recording artists such as Steve Coleman, Cassandra Wilson, and Wynton Marsalis.

The Hampton University Musical Arts Society strives to expose the community to renowned artist. This is not the first credible artist or group to be welcomed to Hampton University. Various artist over the years included The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Betty Allen (mezzo soprano), The Vienna Boys Choir, many more.
