Portsmouth, Va. - Two men are in custody after police say they stole a vehicle, kicked in an 87-year-old's door and robbed her at gunpoint.

Police say just after 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, they were called from a home in the 200 block of Avondale Road. No one on the line responded, but a burglar alarm call came from the same home.

Officers went out to check on the resident there and when they arrived, they found the 87-year-old woman who said men kicked in her door, held her at gunpoint while they searched her home for valuables and money.

The men left the home. The woman was not injured.

Chesapeake Police told Portsmouth officers that a silver Suzuki SUV was stolen from their city.

At 5:41 a.m., an officer found the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Rodman Avenue and Turnpike Road.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle but the driver did not comply.

Police say the vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of Kingman Avenue and Colorado Avenue. Three people jumped out and ran away.

They were eventually captured after officers followed their footprints in the snow.

Police say Devonte K. Smith and Kenyonta A. Owens have been charged with armed burglary, abduction, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Charges are pending against the third person who police say is a minor.
