Wilson, NC – The FBI and authorities in North Carolina are investigating the theft of an estimated $4 million in gold that was stolen during a reported armed robbery along I-95 near Wilson on Sunday night, according to WRAL.

Security guards employed by a Miami-based company told authorities that they were traveling from Miami to Massachusetts with a shipment of silver and gold when they pulled over because of mechanical issues with their tractor-trailer.

The guards reported that three armed men in a white van approached them, ordered them to the ground, tied their hands behind their backs and forced them to walk into some nearby woods. Neither guard was injured.

The men then took several barrels of gold and left the scene.

Investigators, meanwhile, are asking anyone with information about the case to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 252-237-2118.
