Chesapeake, Va. – The man who killed his stepfather in a double homicide in Chesapeake back in July of 2013 has been sentenced.
Ryan Martinez entered an Alford Plea back in November for second degree murder and use of a firearm for the death of his step-father, Anthony Barone.
A judge decided on Monday that Martinez will serve a total of 53 years in prison, followed by 12 years of probation. He received 40 years for the second-degree murder charge and three years for the firearm charge. He additionally received 10 years for two counts of Transporting a Dead Body.
Martinez’s mother, Cindy Jensen-Ellett, was also found dead inside the home on Monarch Reach.
Martinez’s girlfriend, Airika Liljegren, was also arrested and charged for Jensen-Ellett’s murder.
Barone was found shot to death underneath a pile of clothes in a closet upstairs. Jensen-Ellet’s body was found wrapped in a blue tarp, hidden behind cardboard boxes in the garage.
Liljegren entered an Alford Plea back in January.
Court documents revealed that Liljegren admitted to police that she stabbed Jensen-Ellett with a filet knife.
She will be sentenced in April.
