Renowned trombonist Wycliffe Gordon to hold concert at Hampton University

Hampton, Va- Wycliffe Gordon,  hailed as “The Best Trombonist” according to Downbeat Critics Poll for the past three years, is set to have a concert at Hampton University’s Ogden Hall April 6th.

At the age of 13, he found great passion for jazz music after listening to numerous records. His work shows great diversity from commission work, educating, recordings, and film, television and radio performances.

At the age of 48, Gordon has already won elite awards such as ASCAP Foundation Vanguard Award, the Jazz Journalists Association Critics’ Choice Award for Best Trombone (2000), and is the youngest member for U.S Statesmen of Jazz.

This event is sponsored by Hampton University’s Music Arts Society, who strive to expose great artistry to the community. General admission tickets are $25 and tickets for students are $10. Tickets may be purchased during Hampton University’s Jazz Week April 1-5th 2015 or at ticketmaster.com
