James City County, Va. - A 52-year-old man has died after police say he was hit by a truck in James City County on Thursday night.

Calls came in about the incident at 9 p.m. Police responded to the scene in the 7200 block of Merrimac Trail.

They say the 52-year-old pedestrian was hit by a Ford F-150 pick-up truck that was going eastbound as he was walking across the street. He was coming from the 7-Eleven store  in the area and headed to the Cambridge Apartments.

He was taken to Riverside Doctor's Hospital in Williamsburg where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Frank "Frankie" William Evans.

A 22-year-old Newport News man was driving the truck. He was not injured. He told police that he didn't see Evans until it was too late.

Evans was reportedly wearing all dark clothing at the time he was hit.

Speed, weather conditions and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

There's no word if any charges will be filed in this case.
