Norfolk, Va. - They're one of the most popular types of bullets sold.

The M855 'green tips' are the ammo of choice for AR-15 gun owners. But the ATF and President Obama's administration want to outlaw the bullets.

Bob Marcus, the owner of Bob's Gun Shop in Norfolk feels this is another attempt by the government to outlaw AR-15 rifles.

"The attempt to ban these guns failed last year. Now there is an attempt to ban the ammunition, making the guns worthless," Marcus says.

The ATF is arguing that these type of bullets are a danger to police because of their armor piercing ability and because they're now being used in smaller non-AR type guns.

Any bullets made without steel, brass, or iron in their core would still be available.

Marcus says that doesn't leave them with any other alternative metals to use because they're just too expensive.
