Newport News, Va. - A brazen theft was caught on camera at a Newport News hotel.

Surveillance video from Dec. 12 shows a man in the lobby of the Key West Inn located on Jefferson Ave.

He looks around, then with the coast clear, he reaches over the counter to grab money from the cash drawer.

About two months later on Feb. 21 he goes back for more.  This time you can see in the video that the drawer is locked, but that doesn't deter him.  The man fights with the drawer for a while, then finally just jumps over the counter and pries it open.

Both times he went to the hotel, it was around 7 at night.

When someone steps away from the desk for a moment, he seizes the opportunity to grab the cash.

He's wearing similar clothing both times, including a distinctive ball cap that has the reflective store sticker still on it.

During the first theft, he also has an earring in his left ear.

If you know who he is or see any suspicious activity, call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
