Norfolk, Va. - A 27-year-old woman was shot in Norfolk on Monday near 28th Street and Newport Avenue. Neighbors say they heard about nine shots. Two of them hit a neighbor's house.
"That's kind of scary because if the bullets had gone through the wall, there's no telling who it would've hit," said Charles Smith, who was at home a the time of the shooting. Fortunately, brick prevented the bullets from going through his wall.
His house is across the street from the area police blocked off, looking for clues. There were about two dozen evidence markers and police dug in a front yard, but it wasn't clear what they were looking for in the dig.
The victim was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be okay.
No other details have been released.
