China- As compared to other fitness trackers the smart shoe will be difficult to leave behind when you go out for your daily run, and it might even save a life.
The smart shoe has a GPS within it which is helpful for runs, and keeping track of loved ones as well. The 361 smart shoe for kids is powered by MediaTek technology.
According to CNET, the Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek has made this kit for 361, the major Chinese shoe manufacturer. The two teamed up to create a smart shoe specifically for children.
The smart shoe is set to go on sale in China next month. and a MediaTek spokesman said the price is set at 500 yuan, which correlates to about $80. Within the shoe there is a MediaTek Aster processor with 4MB of RAM and a GPS chip as well. The GPS records the shoe’s movements and reflects this information to an app on your phone. Thus, you are able to track the whereabouts of your children.
When using the app, one may include geo-boundaries which send out an alarm when the person wearing the smart shoes moves out of the present area. This first version of the shoe is targeted at children, and comes in fun colors on a chunky sneaker. The shoes do not have to be plugged in to get charged, rather kids just have to take them off and place them on a colorful wireless charging pad after they’re done playing. However, the shoe has a 520mAh battery; therefore, the battery can last up to a couple of days if need be.
The smart shoe is a great way to track kids, and potentially the brand could expand so that pairs could be made for seniors or at-risk persons so that family and caregivers would be able to monitor their movements. Overall, the smart shoe provides a great form of armor for parents. In this day and age with security threats, it provides a great level of knowledge and assurance for parents.
Do you know where your kids are?
