Virginia Beach, Va. - Did Virginia Beach police tamper with evidence?
That's the question NewsChannel 3 asked today with allegations about whether an officer stopped a video that was recording a forceful arrest and whether that officer tried to delete the video from a cell phone.
The video was recorded on a cell phone in January during a traffic stop.
In the video the officer says he smells marijuana.
The officer tells them to get out, but the 17-year-old in the back refuses.
The video shows the officer spraying him with pepper spray and then Tases him.
But it's what happens at the very end that continues to raise concerns.
The video shows what appears to be an officer getting in the car with a flashlight then it looks like the officer is turning off the camera.
Virginia Beach Police Chief Jim Cervera says the officer reported the confrontation the night it happened, but says the cell phone video did not surface until this week.
The officer was placed on administrative leave after this video went viral.
