Franklin, Va. – A 36-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly breaking and entering into a home on Saturday, April 11th. That man could also be facing more charges for a fire that broke out in the home that night.

Franklin Police say they were called to reports of a burglary at a home in the 600 block of Chestnut Street around 10:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the home, they found it fully engulfed in flames.

Franklin Fire Department responded in order to attend to the structure fire while officers interviewed potential witnesses. A Virginia State Police Arson Investigator responded to the scene in order to evaluate the nature of the fire.

The police investigation led them to obtain a warrant for 36-year-old Trenton Darnell Gatling for breaking and entering.

Gatling was arrested on Sunday after being spotted at a business on Armory Drive. He remains in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

Further charges are expected upon laboratory results of evidence submitted from the fire.
