James City County Police Department offering firearm safety classes

James City County, Va. – Free firearm safety classes are being offered from The James City County Police Department.

These free sessions will cover the handling, basic safety, storage and basic laws associated with carrying a concealed handgun in the Commonwealth of Virginia. These classes will not include hands on training and personal firearms need to be left at a secure location.

Kingsmill Police Department will hold the first class on April 23rd, from 6- 8:30p.m at the Wareham’s Pond Recreation.

Following classes will be held on May 11 and May 26th form 6:30-8:30p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center.

Due to extensive request, pre-registration is required because class sizes are limited. Please contact Master Officer Alan McDowell at 757-603-6026 for registration information.

Those who attend will receive a certificate of attendance.
