Four arrested in assault at the Old Swimming Hole in Manteo that left two hospitalized

Manteo, N.C. – Four people have been arrested and another is wanted in an assault that left two people hospitalized at the Old Swimming Hole in Manteo.

On March 25, 2015, Dare County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the Swimming Hole area at the end of Airport Rd in Manteo.

Deputies found a vehicle beside the pavilion with blood stains on the interior.

Two people were located a short distance from the scene with head trauma and other injuries and both were taken to the Outer Banks Hospital. Both victims have since been released.

Investigators discovered the reported gunshot was the sounds of a baseball bat hitting the vehicle.  They say the attack was an isolated incident where the alleged suspects and victims knew each other.

Following the investigation, four people were arrested and charged and one remains at large.

27-year-old Rachel Reid Minton was charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony 2nd Degree Kidnapping (2 Counts), and Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Minton was also served with a Failure to Appear warrant for Felony Probation Violation.

Minton is being held in lieu of a $130,000 secured bond.

27-year-old Whitney Monchel Selby was charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony 2nd Degree Kidnapping (2 Counts), Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

Selby is being held in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.

26-year-old Jamell Hentry Banks was charged wtih Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony 2nd Degree Kidnapping (2 Counts), Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

Banks was also served with warrants for Felony Probation Violation and Child Support Warrant and is being held in lieu of a $130,750.00 secured bond.

19-year-old Trystan Robert Wiley Beacham was charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony 2nd Degree Kidnapping (2 Counts), and Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Beacham is being held in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
