Former Norfolk Public Works employee found guilty of embezzlement

Posted

Norfolk, Va. - A former Norfolk Public Works employee was found guilty of embezzlement on Monday after admitting in court to using a city credit card to steal gas.

Court documents say Donald Wilkins was seen on camera refueling close to a dozen privately owned cars -- all paid for with city gas cards.

Prosecutors say he used his PIN and another worker's PIN to steal more than $8,000 worth of gas.

When Wilkins left court on Monday, he refused to comment, eventually pulling his shirt over his head and walking away. He even swatted away our microphone when we attempted to speak with him.

Wilkins will be sentenced sometime this summer.
