Are you ready to go from selfie stick to selfie arm?

Posted

NEW YORK — A new device offers users a hand with their selfies.

That’s right, the selfie stick is getting an upgrade from a stick to an arm.

The new device is supposed to come in handy and possibly make selfies look a little less lonely.

“It’s extremely lightweight,” said Aric Snee, the creator.

The new device is easy to use. You just stick your phone in the clip and hold the selfie arm by the hand.

The creator said it makes you look like you have a friend.

“Nobody wants to look alone while they mindlessly snap pictures of themselves,” Snee said.

The selfie arm was created by the two artists as sarcastic commentary on the selfie stick phenomenon. Aric Snee and fabricator Justin Crowe got a good laugh at the comments that called their selfie arm “provoking.”

“I’d rather chop off my arm and put a camera on the stump than be seen with this thing,” Snee said.

It was sculpted out of clay then wrapped in fiberglass and hollowed out.

The selfie arm may have been intended as ironic art commentary, but there are companies out there that have reached out and expressed interest in mass producing it.

However the creators are only producing 10 limited-edition, signed selfie arms.

It might cost you an arm and a leg to get your hands on the selfie arm though. The arm alone is priced at $6,200.
