Virginia Beach, Va. - It's twitter for stoners and it started right here in Hampton Roads.
"My friend and I were smoking in his Old Dominion apartment, and of all of our friends who smoke, almost none of them posted about it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter."
Now two years later, Isaac Dietrich and his app, MassRoots are taking off, gaining popularity and profits out in Colorado. The company is even listed on stock exchanges.
"I'm 23-years-old. MassRoots has raised 2 million dollars in venture capital. We have 22 employees, we're scaling incredibly fast. We have 275,000 active users," Dietrich said.
The app connects marijuana smokers with other smokers and legal marijuana vendors. Dietrich says he would like to maybe move the company back to Virginia or start an office in the Commonwealth, but he has to wait for Virginia's laws to catch up with Colorado's.
Right now, the commonwealth has only legalized medical marijuana oil for limited conditions.
