James City County, Va. – The trial of a James City County man charged for his involvement in a 2012 fatal car crash that killed a 14-year-old girl and injured 6 other people concluded Tuesday with the man’s conviction on several charges.

Gary Jerome Turner was charged with DWI maiming, DUI manslaughter, DWI, involuntary manslaughter, child abuse resulting serious injury, child abuse with disregard for life, and reckless driving.

During his trial, Turner was acquitted of the charges of DUI maiming, DUI manslaughter, and DUI because the court found that the Commonwealth did not show enough evidence that he was under the influence.

They did find that he demonstrated criminal negligence in causing the death of one person, serious injury of a child and putting another child at risk. As a result, he was convicted for the remaining charges.

Turner will be sentenced on July 8th at 9:00 a.m. He faces up to 26 years in prison.
