Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk State University is planning to eliminate nearly 100 positions after a significant budget shortfall
The Board of Visitors held their annual meeting and approved a budget for $161 million which is $11.3 million shorter than last years.
They are forced to cut 97 positions due to enrollment decline and anticipated reductions in auxiliary revenues.
This cut in positions will account for $6 million.
They plan to cut these positions through retirement, maintaining vacant posts and not renewing some teaching contracts.
This will reduce their staff by 8.7%
