Virginia Beach, Va. (WTKR) - Getting to and from the beach in the Sandbridge section of Virginia Beach will soon be easier at three more public access points.
Right now, construction is underway at the public beach access points South of Chub Lane, at Marlin Lane and at Whiting Lane.
Those three projects represent Phase V of the Sandbridge Beach Access Improvements, which are paid for out of the Sandbridge Special Service District (SSD).
Friday, work was progressing at the Whiting Lane Beach Access as workers cut and installed planks for the raised walkway.
"I think it’s great. It protects the dunes. It protects the beach. They are wonderful," visitor Mark Bong from Richmond told NewsChannel 3's Todd Corillo.
The project began in the 2006-2007 fiscal year with improvements to the Tuna Lane Beach Access.
Phase VI will include improvements at Bass Lane as well as Porter's Island Road.
The construction that's currently underway on Phase V is expected to be finished by the end of June.
