Portsmouth, Va. – Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department Major Crimes Unit are investigating an attempted suicide at the Portsmouth City Jail.
Police communications received a 911 call at approximately 12:49 p.m. on Wednesday requesting medical assistance for a 34 year-old male inmate who was found not breathing and unresponsive.
Medics arrived and transported the man to local hospital for treatment. His condition is considered life threatening.
At this time, the investigation is still ongoing.
