Virginia Peninsula Foodbank gets a 12,000 pound donation of protein

Smithfield, Va. – Smithfield Foods donated 12,000 pounds of protein to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank this week.

As a part of the Helping Hungry Homes program established in January 2008, Smithfield Foods donates food like protein to help families who don’t have enough food in their homes.

“We are extremely grateful to Smithfield for their continued partnership in helping to provide hunger relief across the Greater Peninsula,” said Karen Joyner, Chief Executive Officer for Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.

Smithfield Foods main goal is to continue helping families, schools and food banks provide food to those who can’t afford it.
