BEAUFORT, N.C. — A man who was spearfishing just off Beaufort Inlet recorded a close call with a tiger shark on camera.

George Frazier was about 28 miles off the coast last week when he noticed something strange, according to WITN.

He had just gotten back into the boat and was about to head back into the water when he saw a large tiger shark.

That’s when he decided to tie his GoPro to a gaff pole and record it – not realizing until later that the shark was about 12-feet long.

The next day he discovered the shark had taken a bite out of his new outboard motor.

Frazier told WITN that he’s seen a lot of sharks in all his years as a freediving instructor and operator of a spearfishing and sport fishing charter company, but this is probably the biggest.
