Hampton mayor recognizes youth group for community service

Posted

Hampton, Va- Hampton city youth girls between the ages of 5-13 were recognized June 6th by Mayor George Wallace for their excellent work in serving the community and showing off their cheerleading skills.

This youth team, otherwise known as DIAMONDS-Dedicated Empowered Motivating Others and Noticing Diversity, performed for the mayor and gave it their all at the Y.H. Thomas Community Center where they practice with their coach Ja’Rae Bolton, a student at Hampton University, and many other team leaders that help make moments like this possible.

The mayor said the girls were admirable and spoke to them about making bold statements in life. At this point they are doing just that, making sure they “sparkle and shine, all the time.”
