Person dies in motorcycle crash on I-64 eastbound near J Clyde Morris Blvd.

UPDATE: 65-year-old Phillip D. Caudill has been identified as the driver of the motorcycle fatality.

Caudill was driving a 2005 Yamaha when he gave a hand signal to make a left lane change. As he was changing lanes, he hit a 2006 Toyota Camry driven by 81-year-old Delores Felton.

Caudill lost control of his bike, and then hit the pavement. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Newport News, Va. – A person has died as a result of a motorcycle crash, according to Virginia State Police.

On June 12, 2015 at approximately 12:39 p.m., the Virginia State Police communications center received notification of an accident with injury involving a motorcycle.

The accident took place at the ramp of J Clyde Morris, Route 17, on to eastbound Interstate 64, according to State Police. The accident is a fatality and the Virginia State Police Reconstruction Team has been requested.

The ramp has been shut down for the investigation.
