Man arrested for SunTrust bank robbery in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. — Norfolk Police detectives have made an arrest in the SunTrust Bank robbery that occurred on June 15, 2015 in downtown Norfolk.

Police arrested 39-year-old Daniel Martinez of the 9600 block of 11th View Street. He was arrested Thursday, June 18, 2015, and charged with one count each of robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Martinez is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.

The robbery took place at the SunTrust Bank located at 150 West Main Street in downtown Norfolk Monday afternoon shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Police say Martinez entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied, and he fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

There were no reported injuries.
