Police responded to the 4200 block of Thalia Station Circle around 7:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Police say a domestic related dispute turned into a physical altercation, in which one person was stabbed to death. The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Annanya Linkeow Hugh-Kong who was a special needs teacher at Independence Middle School in Virginia Beach for nearly a decade.

Her daughter, 22-year-old India Hugh Kong Johnson, has been charged with second degree murder.

According to Johnson's bail determination worksheet found in court documents Tuesday, she "called 911 and said she stabbed her mother." Under a section titled "weight of evidence," an officer wrote Johnson stabbed her mother multiple times after an argument and that the 22-year-old had cuts on her hands. The court document also says Johnson "claims she was acting in self defense."

Johnson is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond. She has a bond hearing in court Wednesday morning.

This case remains under investigation.
