Two men hospitalized after accident involving oil tanker and mail truck in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – A man had to be airlifted to the hospital and another was also taken in for treatment after an accident involving an oil tanker and a mail truck closed down a portion of Carolina Road in Suffolk.

This happened in the 900 block. Crews had to close the road in both directions.

Emergency crews received calls about the incident at 4:11 p.m.

Official say a power pole and power lines were also down across the roadway and crews from Dominion Virginia Power were on the scene.

The driver of the U.S. mail truck was airlifted to the hospital by Nightingale and the driver of the oil tanker was taken via ambulance to Sentara Obici Hospital. Both had non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
