Pink gun confiscated from woman at Norfolk International Airport

Norfolk, Va. – A Virginia Beach woman was stopped by TSA officers at the Norfolk International Airport checkpoint when the TSA officers detected the hot pink semi-automatic handgun in her purse on Sunday, according to TSA officials.

TSA officers detected the unloaded gun, along with two magazine clips and 12 rounds of ammunition, officials say.

The TSA officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine detected the handgun as it passed along the conveyor belt. The gun was located in a zippered soft-sided bag tucked into the woman’s purse.

All guns are prohibited past checkpoints.

TSA officers immediately contacted the Norfolk Airport Authority Police, which responded, confiscated the gun and ammunition, and issued the woman a summons on a state weapons charge. There was no impact to airport operations, according to officials.
