York County, Va. - We're learning more about the man shot and killed Wednesday by a sheriff's deputy in York County.
Newport News police tell us 26-year-old Damien Harrell was a convicted felon who was supposed to appear in court June 1st.
He was facing weapons charges among other things, and was on probation after serving time for robbery.
The sheriff's office says they stopped Harrell and there was a confrontation between him and the deputy.
Authorities say Harrell reached for a gun and the deputy fired off six rounds killing Harrell.
The deputy was wearing a body cam.
They wouldn't release the video but they showed it to reporters.
Marissa Jasek described the chilling scene she saw on that video.
