Newport News, VA – Newport News Public Schools has been awarded one of five $50,000 grants from the Virginia Department of Education to establish an innovative two-year pilot program at Heritage High School.
This program aims to create a third option for Heritage students that are not in the Governor’s STEM Academy or University magnet.
It will allow students to spend their first two years exploring career paths in specific career clusters. Their last two years will be spent applying what they learned through social entrepreneurship opportunities and early career programs.
By the end of the program, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills they need, and have a clear understanding of the pathway to success in their chosen career field.
